Your Happily Ever After

One of our favorite parts about creating engagement rings is receiving client photos and reading their love stories. Behind each Zen Moissanite ring is a beautiful & unique love story that we are so grateful to be a part of. Celebrating milestones with our clients is such an honor, and is a significant source of motivation in the work that we do. We pride ourselves for working closely with our clients to provide a collaborative and stress-free experience and for bringing their vision to life (and their dream ring to their finger)! We hope you enjoy these stories and testimonials as much as we did!

Our Love Story

We met in 2011 at a restaurant when we were both teenagers, but my favourite part about our love story is that we spent our entire lives going to school together - always near, but we never crossed paths until we were older. Fast forward almost 10 years later and we finally got engaged, and made it official in September of this year!

How did you decide on a Zen Moissanite piece?

I always knew that I wanted something that was guaranteed conflict-free & better for the planet, but didn't want to sacrifice the beauty and durability of having a diamond. Once I discovered moissanite, I knew that's what I wanted! Additionally, I was so happy when I learned that Zen Moissanite was local & knowing that my engagement ring came from a local shop instead of a big box store is a huge bonus to me!

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day and why?

It’s hard to pick one specific moment since the whole day was everything I wanted it to be and more, but if I had to pick one, it was probably getting to do our first look together, just the two of us. Like everyone told us, it was hard to be alone & calm throughout most of the day, so getting this time together, just the two of us was a really special moment that we got to share together.

Can you share some behind-the-scenes anecdotes or unexpected twists from your wedding day?

Well, our dog Freddie, was actually supposed to be the ring bearer for our wedding day, but ended up far too much of an anxious boy to come to the ceremony, and in fact, wouldn’t even get into the car to go to the venue to take photos with us! Luckily, we planned our photos before the ceremony so well that we ended with some extra time, and our lovely photographer, Stephanie Mason, offered to take us to where Freddie was and we ended up getting photos with him after all!

What advice would you give to future brides who are planning their weddings?

I think the two most important things I took away from our wedding day is that it’s totally fine for things to not go perfectly/as you planned it. The wrong playlist got put on during our cocktail hour, our dog wouldn’t cooperate, I was a bit late walking down the aisle because my dress got stuck in the door – things happen, and it’s totally okay. You and your partner (and anyone who helped you plan!) are probably the only ones who are going to know that it didn’t go exactly to plan. The second thing is to make sure you have some alone time with your partner. My husband and I are both introverts, so having a day all about us got a bit overwhelming, and it was lovely having a separate space for us to go to and just be alone for 5 minutes with no interruptions.

How did you choose the theme or style for your wedding, and what inspired your decisions?

Honestly, I’ve been pinning photos of my dream wedding since I was a teenager and Pinterest came on the scene! I wanted colours that represented both my husband and I, so we chose a blush pink, and British racing green, and we both liked a more rustic, cozy feeling, especially considering it was a fall wedding. Overall, the style/theme of the wedding was very true to who we are as individuals and as a couple, so it really unfolded quite naturally in the planning process.

Were there any special traditions or customs incorporated into your wedding ceremony or reception, and what significance did they hold for you and your partner?

We are actually both quite non-traditional, and the first on both sides of our immediate families to get married, so there wasn’t any big traditions that we included in our wedding day. In fact, we both made decisions to cut very traditional things including parent-child dances, a formal cake cutting and a first dance since that wasn’t true to who we were as a couple. I did however include two reserved chairs both our ceremony & reception for two of my husbands immediate relatives who unfortunately passed just before we got engaged. I planned this as a bit more of a surprise for my husband and his family to honour those two members of his family who couldn’t be with us to celebrate our big day.
